About Dr. Rob Irwin

Dr. Rob Irwin has devoted his life to the study of human behavior and personal motivation. His study of the human mind began when he was quite young. Raised by a doctor and psychologist, his unique and keen interest in human behavior was encouraged by his parents through books and other resources. Rob enthusiastically immersed himself in these materials and even attended training seminars to develop his understanding of the mind starting at the age of seven.

Rob's passion to understand human behavior was not exclusive to the game of golf. Rob’s father was a well-distinguished amateur golfer and therefore Rob spent much of his childhood on golf courses in LA. He was five years old when he discovered his natural ability at the sport. Rob continued to improve his game and played junior golf against some of the world’s top players including Eric Meeks, who won the US Open Amateur and Bob May who lost to Tiger Woods in a play off at the PGA Championship. Rob became aware early on that he found more satisfaction helping other golfers improve their game than pursuing a career in professional golf. This realization was the precursor to Rob’s decision to follow a profession in Sports Psychology, a field that would share his passion for golf and helping people.

Rob graduated from San Diego State University. He then received his Masters in Clinical Psychology from Western American University and His Doctorate in Clinical Sports Psychology from San Diego University for Integrative Studies. Rob is a member of the San Diego Psychology Organization and the American Psychological Association (APA 42).

Working with athletes, Dr. Rob developed a system that proved to escalate their performance. He soon discovered that his system not only applied to athletes wanting to advance their game but also to people seeking to improve their lives. As founder and CEO of Sport of Mind, Dr. Rob continues to enrich the quality of people’s lives through his proven performance enhancement system.

Dr. Rob’s passion to awaken the remarkable power of achievement in others does not stop with Sport of Mind. Dr. Rob is also involved in many non-profit organizations such as Men’s Division International, Interfaith Community Services, Serenity House and Family Recovery Center. Within these organizations Dr. Rob is able to give back to his community and also enter an environment where he can receive coaching. As he says, "No one is above coaching. Even a coach needs a coach." He truly practices what he professes.

It would be a true challenge to find a man who is more dedicated and sincere in his mission to assist others to achieve the greatness that lies within them. Dr. Rob’s coaching skills are not merely a result of many years of study but also his own personal experience of self-discovery and success through coaching. Dr. Rob is living his dream. He wakes up with vibrancy and performs with enthusiasm and energy as he himself continues his journey to fulfill his own potential.

Dr. Rob resides in sunny California with his beautiful wife, Ali, daughter London, son Ryder, and golden retriever Jake. When he is not coaching, teaching, consulting, writing books or speaking, you are likely to find him on the golf course where he still works on his game.
